Donkey of the Week goes to Keithan Manuel for going to the Dallas Police Station to check on a warrant and allegedly telling a dispatcher that he had a gun and to hand over some money. After he was tackled and detained by several officers, Keithan said to them, “I was just joking, I didn’t say nothing like that. I swear to God, I didn’t say nothing like that. That’s why they didn’t find no guns on me.” He was arrested and charged with robbery and theft.

Michael K. Williams joined The Breakfast Club to discuss playing Ol’ Dirty Bastard in an upcoming film and talks about his infamous character Omar Little in HBO’s acclaimed series The Wire.

Getting too far into character:

“That was my problem with Omar. I crossed the line with that character and it’s like the lines got blurred. I have tools now. I know what I have to do to remove myself from a character. They don’t call it a craft for nothing. You got to open yourself up for energy, you got to receive these characters and these spirits if you will, and wear that.”

“People don’t really realize how dark the state of mind one must have been in to portray a character like Omar. I was in a real dark state of mind. I just identified with him on a lot of different levels. just the darkness of his mindset, not really caring about much. That kinda spilled over to my personal life… Only thing I wasn’t doing was robbing dudes and kissing dudes.”

Portraying ODB in the upcoming film Dirty White Boy.

“It’s only going to focus on the last two years of his life, when he was released from prison up until the day he died.”

Angela Yee says: “It feels like there’s so much more to Ol’ Dirty Bastard because the last two years of his life… were probably the worst years, I would say, of his life.”

Williams responds, “People don’t know why they were his worst years. There was some mental health issues. There was a lot of things that us in the public eye, us as his fan base, we didn’t know what he was going through right there in front of our face. A lot of things. It was just drugs. He struggled deeply with mental illness.”

“When he died, he was actually on the come up. He had a lot of hope for his life. He was getting his stuff together, caught up on all his child support, it was just unfortunate he had a little bit of that white girl in him and he had a pain in his leg and asked for a painkiller when he should have just taken an Aleve, somebody gave him some horse tranquilizer and it short circuited his heart. But it wasn’t like he was on a binge, dude was really excited about his future. His home life, what we don’t know is what I want to bring. I want to introduce Ason, or as Ms. Cherry calls him, Rusty.”

It was frustrating as hell waiting for Internet servers to clear up (it took almost two hours to clear up), but it was worth the wait!

Meek, who just turned 25, puts his ability to rap on a pedestal!

Dreamchasers 2 bangs with lethal street anthems like “Flexing,” “Lean Wit It,” & “A-1,” and I swear I was starting to feel like I was slinging rocks after a few listens.

Meek Mill also switches it up and delivers radio friendly tracks like “Amen”, “Take U Home” and “Big Dreams”.

It actually feels like Meek tore out rhymes from a personal journal: Took a few rhymes from his personal journal to help you understand where’s he’s from and why he’s seated at the right side of Rick Ross.

This lyric right chea? This is why he’s seated at the right hand of Rick Ross. Ruh!

“I love [New York radio personality] Angela Yee because she’s herself. She likes to wear $900 shoes, have a good time and it all works. She’s also a hustler—very ambitious and I like that. At times, I look at myself as the hip-hop Blossom because I wear so many different hats and it’s the same as [Yee]. She has her site, she’s on the radio, she does TV… I appreciate someone in entertainment who’s similar to me but on a higher plateau, but it doesn’t feel like it. Usually it’s hard for females in the same field to be okay with one another, but she’s not like that at all. Another person is [Funkmaster] Flex. Whether you like him or not he’s making sure that he stays relevant, that he’s No. 1 and that’s still pushing his content. He never gets old and that’s exactly where I want my brand to be. Him and Angela Yee, they just do it for me. They’re two wonderful people that I watch on a daily basis and kind of implement certain things they do into my business life and it’s working.”

Gabrielle wanted to come to The Breakfast Club to meet and confess to Ami that she’s been sleeping with her husband Vikram.

“First just let me say I’m very sorry. And the reason I brought you here was that I am having an affair with Vikram and I just wanted you to know. Again I’m very sorry, but I think you need to know this.”

Swizz Beatz joined The Breakfast Club to discuss the numerous business ventures he’s involved in such as Reebok, Christian Louboutin, LOTUS, Aston Martin and more.

“It’s not about me being on a producer level with [bringing Korean music to the states]. It’s just more of building a tunnel so all the boundries in music can start getting rolled over becuase it shouldn’t be about Korean music, music from the states. Music is one voice. Music is a universal voice. So I just wanted to start over there in Korea because their music movement is huge, and we sure don’t know about it.”

“Traveling has been like one of the biggest things with me growing sonically because you get a chance to hear other cultures. You get to see other things then you can understand: Ok you hot, but there’s some other sounds that’s hot as well. You mix those things together and you can have success.”

“I’m a student, so I’m always looking for more information, definitely more information people put in front of me, people tell me… I like to do homework and research to see what to waste my time, what not to waste my time with and it works. And also teaching at NYU gave me a big responsibility to go even deeper into having knowledge and knowing what’s going on. So all those different things made me go in deeper to art and everything like that as well.”

“I just moved myself from the traditional way of doing business in the music industry, because I just feel like the traditional way of doing business is not updated with the times that we living with the technology driven world. And I think that the greed, the oldest paper pushing business in the world which is the music industry, it has to change. I remember when the music industry could have owned 50% of everything digital. Everything. Half of iTunes, half of everything. But the greed and the miscommunication with the technology, it just messed up everything for the traditional way of doing business.”
