The multi-talented Teyana Taylor visited The Breakfast Club to discuss her career, her release from Pharrell’s music label Star Trek and the rumors around her sexuality.

Angela recalls seeing Teyana on My Super Sweet Sixteen as a choreographer which was also the time she signed with Pharrell’s recording label, Star Trek. However, after the signing to the label everyone wants to know when the album’s coming.

“I think that’s another thing, the ‘Sweet Sixteen’ kinda made it hard because soon as I got signed I had the sweet sixteen and it was automatic, ‘Okay where is the music?’ So I didn’t get the chance to have that process where it takes an artist three years to finally get it poppin with it being all the drama behind it. So I came out with a buzz and got signed immediately and it was like, ‘We need it here today.’ So it didn’t matter,” Teyana explained.

Although separated, Teyana continues to maintain a healthy relationship with Pharrell. When asked about her contract release from Star Trek, she states:

“It was natural artist things that makes it harder. I was going through something that every artist goes through and it just happened that everybody knew who I was while I was going through that. It was just so much going on and being signed to Star Trek, Interscope for six years, has been a blessing. I’m actually kinda happy that things didn’t work out when I was younger because I wasn’t that mature and I didn’t know the industry as much as I do now. I’ve now grown not to take anything personal in this ugly industry.”

Envy then questioned what label Teyana is signed to:

“I’m a free agent; I’m in a Lebron situation and I’m tryna see where I’m gonna take my talents. The fact that I finally got my release in and by the way, I was not dropped, I got an official release that me and my team asked for because I felt like before I can go any further with anything or with any label, that I needed to find myself as an artist and I needed to put out music for free. I felt like the people have been waiting for that and deserve that and I have a point to prove, I’m not one of them artists’ that’s comfortable with just being popular. I’m an entertainer, I’m a director, I’m a dancer, I’m an artist first.”

While Teyana plans to work on herself before signing with another label, she’s bewn crafting her sound as an artist and will release an EP titled The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor, expected to drop February 29th. We’ll also be seeing Teyana acting in a Western inspired indie film Gang of Roses 2.

Here’s what she had to say about the alleged altercation with the director:

“I just can’t wait ’til the movie comes out, so I can get my parts and add it to my reel. I ain’t gon’ front, I got all the way into character, like I had my little hats and stuff. It was a five day shoot and they asked if I could do it and I thought, ‘It will be good to show another side.’” But would the director cut her out the scenes in the post-production of the film? “Nah, I did all my own stunts so it was too poppin’, I was flipping with the guns. No, he couldn’t even cut me, he couldn’t even cut me.”

Teyana also explained why she accepted the role: “When I heard that it was a western, I didn’t care who was in it, who directing it. I cared that I just did a film where I was a babymother. A lot of actresses will get into a character and they tend to always play those characters in every movie.”

The topic of sexuality came up as Charlamagne asked if she’s ever felt the need to address rumors from blogs that stated she was gay. “I just think it’s funny when I first came out as an artist, mind you I’m only 15 years old so the fact that I was actually dressing my age, I was gay to the world. But now everybody is wearing sneakers and stuff. It’s sexy, the new tomboy thing is in now, it just really bugs me out. It’s actually better for me so they can stay out of my business for when I am dating.”

Hailing from ATL, Torion is the newest and youngest member of Young Money. He joined The Breakfast Club to discuss his signing with YMCMB and his plans for the future. Tor talks about auditioning for Atlantic Records saying, “They all wanted to sign me. But my manager, he wanted to carry on from there.” Tor’s manager David Mcpherson gave DJ Envy his first record deal.

He discusses linking up with his manager saying, “He came to my church and he saw me dancing. I was dancing for my dad. When I was dancing, he saw me, I was mouthing the words to the song. And when I started dancing to my song, he was like, ‘I think this kid can sing.’ So then he wanted to sign me from there. And then they hooked up with Mack Maine. Mack Maine called Lil Wayne and said, “I got to fly this kid out to Miami, and after that I was signed.”

Angela asks who exactly Torion is. “I would say I’m kind’ve like the next MJ or kind’ve like Justin Bieber. I sing, I act, and I dance. So that kind’ve represents who I am.” Charlamagne advices Tor that he shouldn’t compare himself to others. Torion responds, “But what I mean by that, I’m saying that’s what I do, that comparison. But not as high as them, that’s what I’m striving towards.”

Angela asked what his parents thought of him working in the industry at such a young age. “My parents are so proud of me. I’m so proud of my parents for preparing me for this.” He talks about his crush on Nicki Minaj and he’s working on his first mixtape. He also sang a live rendition of Maxwell‘s “This Woman’s Work”.

T-Pain stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss his new album Revolver, YMCMB rumors, “I Am T-Pain” app, and Jay-Z’s effect on his career.

Comments saying he didn’t want to release an album:

“It felt like it was a waste of time. But everybody goes through that little depression state. Everybody went through it. I know Chris went through it, Ne-Yo went through it… Everybody just stopped messing with you at a point. It just gets weird. That’s just dues being girls I guess.”

Why the YMCMB deal never happened:

“Young Money changed their mind. I think they said, ‘I was a liability’. I mean, I’m pretty crazy. There’s a lot of stuff y’all don’t know that I be doing that’s just real stupid that could get a lot of people in trouble.”

“D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” fall-out:

“It was crazy because I was planning on taking a break at that point. But it was real, real bad in the urban community. But [with] white people, it made me more famous… but it killed me in the urban demographic.”
