Trey Songz joined The Breakfast Club to discuss his charity initiatives and the release of his new mixtapes Anticipation II and #Letmeholdatbeat2. Trey says:

“It’s basically a kick off to what I’m calling “Angels With Hearts” month. That’s my foundation and it’s just starting with me giving back to my fans. Just having so much success and being blessed to the point of where I am is actually overwhelming at times to look and realize what I have from doing what I love.”

He discusses releasing an EP on November 29th and giving the proceeds to his charity. He discusses why he started giving back saying:

“Just to see people and the love they have for me worldwide. To go and to live the life that I live and to go see the poorest, the people thats poorer than the poorest people in the city that I come from, that see their world light up when I sign a piece of paper or hug them or take a picture, and to know that it’s my music. The internet has basically made the world flat. So the fact that I can put out all this music and make so many people happy around the world and start the initiative and ignite the will within them to want to give as well.”

He talks about doing his first charity event while shooting the video for “Top of the World”. He said they gave out hundreds of free hair cuts and food as well.

“Within the same token, showing the poverty and despair, showing that if you don’t really have that mindset to get to the top, because everybody not going to make it and that’s what it’s about for me at this point. Just teaching people how to move and how to maneuver when trying to get success. Everybody ain’t going to make it to the top because everybody ain’t driven, some people expect handouts, some people think they hotter than they are, some people ain’t willing to work hard enough. So I want to be the face of what that is to work hard enough and what it is to give back.”

Trey discusses sticking to his core as an urban artist and R&B singer, his thoughts on R. Kelly, and girls fighting over him at the club. He’s also starring in the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film titled Leatherface 3D, due out in theaters next year.
